Rhythm Journey @ Mosaic Health & Healing Arts
May 18 @ 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Experience the healing power of rhythm in this group drumming session.  Drumming can be a transformative way to explore difficult emotions, release energy and restore balance in your life. It is also a fun and healthy activity to relieve stress and anxiety. No prior experience with drumming is required to participate (but experienced drummers should find a home here as well). Instruments will be provided but please bring a drum or percussion instrument along if you have one.  The sessions will include a brief explanation of how to play the drum, interactive drumming exercises, free improvisational drum circle and music-enhanced mindfulness and relaxation.  We invite you to take a step into new territory as we go on this rhythm journey together!  Rhythm Journey will be facilitated by Kent Craig, MT-BC, a Board Certified Music Therapist who has facilitated drum circles with youth, elders, veterans and people with disabilities in a variety of settings including hospitals, mental health centers, nursing homes, schools and day programs.

Cost of each session is $10 or $25 for all three if paid by first session. Sliding scale is available! Register in advance by phone 574-537-2680, by email to mosiacinfo@mosaichha.org or simply show up. Everyone is welcome!

Living in the Non-Binary – Discussion and Connection @ Mosaic Health & Healing Arts
May 20 @ 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

This is a new, and likely, ever evolving group space that consists of discussion and support for those experiencing and perceiving life in non-binary expression.  That expression may be in the form of gender identity, relationship or family structure, spirituality, community building, academics, healing, career, and many other parts of our lives. As a place to open the conversation we will focus on the gender spectrum and invite the conversation to grow from there. Many of the binary structures in our society are beginning to crumble. Those of us who already have experience living and navigating the non-binary world have much to share. We also face the challenge of living in a world where the binary systems still have power. So, in the space of this group, we share our experience, knowledge, wisdom, struggles and gifts of living in non-binary expression.

Tai Chi @ Mosaic Health & Healing Arts
May 23 @ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Tai Chi is sometimes referred to as “meditation in motion” and can benefit the mind, body and spirit. It can be a useful practice for reducing stress and anxiety as well as improve muscle strength, flexibility and balance. Each session is focused on learning warm ups, breathing, posture, stances and moving slowly and sensitively while developing deep awareness of how our body feels.

Tai Chi Chuan is rooted in a martial art system based on the understanding of the on going changes in the relationship of the qualities of Yin and Yang. As an ancient Chinese tradition, today, it is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. It is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.

Dr. Mohsen Hamadanchi will be leading this series. As a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and an experienced martial artist, Dr. Hamadanchi is happy to bring the art of Tai Chi to our Mosaic community!

Cost of each class is $10 (sliding scale is available!)
