Clinical Provider Training
The Mosaic Experience
We are excited to offer The Mosaic Experience to Medical and Mental Health Providers!
We have partnered with Indiana University School of Medicine to offer continuing education credits for both medical and mental health providers who attend The Mosaic Experience. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™, ANCC contact hours, and Category 1 Continuing Education Credits for Social Work by Indiana University School of Medicine.
Join us in expanding access to LGBTQ2IA+ competent, lifesaving care!
Medical providers (MD, DO, APN, RN and advance students) are invited to join us for an intensive, in person training with Dr. Bast and the Mosaic team. The Mosaic Experience is a 2 day intensive learning opportunity designed to empower providers to competently care for LGBTQ2IA+ patients. Through didactics and experiential learning, we will introduce providers to the Mosaic philosophy of trauma informed, whole – person care. We will provide education on gender affirming hormone therapy for all ages. We will seek to end the HIV epidemic and curb the rising rates of Hepatitis C by normalizing prevention and treatment in the primary care setting, giving learners skills to address these concerns particularly needed in those traditionally marginalized in health care settings. The Mosaic experience with give medical providers the tools necessary to immediately transform their practice and will include opportunities for ongoing connection and support with Dr Bast.
Mental Health Providers
Behavioral health providers who work in therapeutic settings are invited to join our Director of Counseling & Mental Wellness, Jenn Faulkner-Jones MS, NCC, LMHCA, and the Mosaic team for an intensive training focused on expanding mental health care to Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Diverse patients.
Participants will be informed about providing gender affirming care in compliance with WPATH SOC 7 and DSM-5 standards as well as an Informed Consent Model of Care, develop and practice a welcoming gender inclusive intake, gain understanding into medical, social, and surgical gender affirmation journeys. Participants will also learn how to support Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Diverse patients whether exploring their gender is an area of focus in the therapeutic setting or whether that identity is one of many that are salient in the counseling room. Mosaic is committed to normalizing the need for providers to be welcoming and affirming to those whose gender identities have pushed them to the margins of care in both medical and mental health settings.
We provided basic LGBTQ2IA+ Awareness and Competency training to over 100 current or future medical and mental health providers in 2020, as well as more than 150 in the first half of 2021. In a world where half of trans and non-binary people reported that they had to teach their medical providers about transgender care, we’re excited to be teaching healthcare providers to competently provide kind, inclusive, whole-person care! Our vision is that every LGBTQ2IA+ person in the United States has access to competent, kind, inclusive care to meet their healthcare needs.
We also provide LGBTQ2IA+ culturally informed competency training for non-medical community and service organizations as well as businesses and schools.
If your place of work or organization is looking to take the next step in becoming LGBTQ2IA+competent, we’d be happy to help!
